Manchester United finally managed to get their hands on Bruno Fernandes during the January transfer window and according to Bryan Robson, he could be the ideal replacement to Paul Scholes.

“Bruno looks a special player,” Robson said on talkSPORT’s Sports Breakfast.

“I’ve met him a few times, I’ve seen him at the training ground and he’s got a fantastic attitude.

“He mixes really well with the lads and you can see why he was captain of Sporting.

“What a talent he is. He’s not a Roy Keane, Paul Ince or Nicky Butt type of midfielder, he’s more like Paul Scholes.

“He’s brilliant at getting in little pockets in between the defence and midfield, he gets into these areas, gets himself space and he’s got terrific vision where he can sees a pass and perform a pass like Paul Scholes could, and he can score goals too.

“Hopefully he proves me right and goes on to be another Paul Scholes for Manchester United.”

Can Bruno Fernandes fill into Scholes’ boots?

Bruno Fernandes has without a doubt made an instant impact at Manchester United but there’s still a long way to go before he can be dubbed as the next Paul Scholes.

The playmaker has already netted two goals and made three assists in just five Premier League games for the Red Devils meaning he certainly has the traits to be a club legend.

Also, from what his manager and his teammates are claiming, Bruno Fernandes looks to be a leader in midfield and this is something that Man United have been lacking for a really long time.

So all in all, the Portuguese has started off nicely in the Premier League but what remains to be seen is he can continue this process in the long run.
