La Liga side FC Barcelona along with PSG have been scouting Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes who is also on Manchester City and Chelsea’s transfer wishlist, as per a report by HITC.
PSG are going to free a massive part of their wage bills with Kylian Mbappe set to leave for Real Madrid so they can go ahead and bring in some fresh recruits in the summer and even Barcelona are planning to raise funds by selling some big-name players.
Frenkie de Jong is one of their top players but Barcelona will agree to sell him if a club is willing to pay around €100 million for him and Bruno Guimaraes can be the perfect replacement.
Guimaraes has also attracted interest from Manchester City and Chelsea and if Newcastle United want to cash in on him then they have the opportunity to bag a massive profit.
Is Bruno Guimaraes worth the hype?
The Magpies had paid around €42 million to sign the defensive midfielder and currently, his valuation stands at a staggering €85 million.
Since January 2022, the Brazilian international has played in 92 games for the club and last season, he made 2.1 tackles per game and was dribbled past just once every 90 minutes.
This campaign, he’s made an average of 61 passes per match with an accuracy of 86%.
Newcastle United have been very strategic with how they have spent their money under Eddie Howe and there’s no denying that Bruno Guimaraes has been one of their most influential signings.
His contract with Newcastle United expires in 2028 so the club’s in no hurry to offload him but we suspect Bruno could ask to leave because joining a team like Man City, Chelsea or Barcelona will definitely be a step up for him.
Kalvin Phillips and Matheus Nunes have both failed to make an impact in the Man City line up and Pep is possibly viewing Bruno Guimaraes as the long-term partner to Rodri.
He can also slot in perfectly in Barcelona’s midfield if the Catalans were to get rid of Frenkie de Jong however, we don’t see how he will be of help to Chelsea. The Blues have three top central midfielders in the form of Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo so it makes little sense for them to spend another €100 million on the Newcastle man.
