EPL sides Man United, Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing Atalanta’s 24-year-old midfielder Ederson, as per Gazzetta dello Sport.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have already been mentioned as some of the admirers for the Brazilian midfielder and now, three of the biggest EPL sides seem to have also joined the bandwagon.

Arsenal, Man United and Liverpool are all in the hunt for a new central midfielder so it’s hardly a surprise that these three are being linked with Ederson. The Gunners will get rid of Thomas Partey because injuries have ruined his time in England while Manchester United will do the same with Casemiro and McTominay.

Liverpool, on the other hand, need to find a new CDM because Alexis Mac Allister in that role has been a massive failure.

Ederson joined Atalanta in 2022 from Salernitana for a fee of around €21.5 million and right now, his valuation is €27 million with two more years left in his current contract.

Can Ederson be an ideal fit in the EPL?

Ederson is known as a defensive-minded central midfielder who is great at tackling and making interceptions but still in 23 league appearances this season, the 24-year-old has managed to score five goals.

In 1937 minutes of league football this campaign, Ederson has made close to 3 tackles per game and he’s been dribbled past just 0.5 times per 90 minutes. He also has a passing accuracy of 83.5%.

Last season, he had scored only a single league goal but he’s vastly improved in that department this campaign and currently, he’s regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Serie A.

Liverpool have already made enquiries regarding a possible summer sale while Man United are also said to be interested but we doubt if Ederson is the priority target for either of these teams.

Man United are trying to get their hands on Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong while Arsenal are said to be eyeing top targets like Martin Zubimendi and only if they miss out on their main men will they shift their focus to the Atlanta midfielder.

Ederson is willing to leave Atalanta and move to the EPL at the end of this season but realistically speaking a team like Newcastle or Tottenham have a much better chance of signing the 24-year-old.
