Liverpool and now Manchester City have shown an interest in Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka but Theo Walcott has urged the youngster to remain at the Emirates Stadium.

The winger is one of the most prized assets for Mikel Arteta right now but there are constant fears that the 20-year-old is not going to agree to a new deal and will instead try to force an exit. However, Walcott is against this idea and he’s urged the England international to remain at Arsenal if he wants to develop.

‘Well, there is obviously a transitional stage at Arsenal, that Mikel is part of, and Saka is massively part of it as well,’ Walcott told talkSPORT(h/t Metro).

‘The younger crop of players at Arsenal coming through, I feel as though the club need to keep hold of him, simple as that. Obviously, when Manchester City coming knocking on the door, it is such a hard thing for any player really to turn down.

‘He is very young, but I feel that he likes the area of London in Arsenal, the fans have been fantastic, and at the Emirates, which is one of the best stadiums I have ever played in.

‘He has great support, and I will be intrigued. My heart says he will be at Arsenal next season, and we will see after that.

‘He needs to understand that the playing opportunities will be limited at Manchester City. He will, of course, be more likely to win things, but it is not saying Arsenal won’t win things.

‘I think they are in that phase, they are slowly starting to get there. They would have taken fifth at the start of the season, given how it went.

‘I am hopeful he will be at Arsenal next season, I am pretty sure of that.’

How can Arsenal hold onto Bukayo Saka?

Bukayo Saka has two more years left on his current deal and one of the priorities for Arsenal this summer will be to convince the winger to sign an extension.

As per The Evening Standard, the Gunners are confident that Saka is going to sign the new deal but we don’t think it will be that simple.

It’s not every day that both Liverpool and Manchester City show an interest in you so there’s every possibility he will wait for one more year to sign the new deal. If Arsenal can get back into the Champions League and compete for trophies then Bukayo Saka will have no problems in signing the extension but anything otherwise and the player will surely look to exit.

Liverpool or Manchester City are not going to make any formal moves this summer but they have made their presence very clear and that’s something that will be at the back of the minds of both Saka as well as the Arsenal management.
