Manchester City are looking to strengthen their defence and it looks like they have made a move for Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu, as per reports.

The 23-year-old joined Leicester in the summer of 2018 from Freiburg but under Brendan Rodgers, the player has really found his feet and right now he is one of the most talked-about defenders in the Premier League.

Guardiola is obviously having major headaches with his defensive line primarily due to the absence of Laporte with a long-term injury.

Some reports had hinted that City will be looking to bring in a new defender during the January transfer window and it’s being suggested that they have made an initial offer of €45 million for Caglar Soyuncu.

The centre-back is under contract at Leicester until the summer of 2023 meaning the Foxes are in hurry to sell him off which is why we feel that Man City will find it really difficult to lure out the player this month.

But having said that there is one factor that might force Caglar Soyuncu to try and join Manchester City.

And that is their manager, Pep Guardiola.

The former Barcelona man is managerial royalty and not many players would give up the opportunity to play under his guidance.

And if Soyuncu is one of them then surely it will be very difficult for Leicester to keep hold of him.

While Man City will surely try hard to sign the Turkish international this month itself but we don’t think the Foxes will let him leave in January simply because they wouldn’t be able to find a long-term replacement in such a short span of time.
