Rangers keeper Jak Alnwick was supposed to leave the club during the January transfer window but now it looks like that plan has been shelved.

Jak Alnwick joined League One club Blackpool during the summer on a season-long loan deal and so far the player has made 22 league appearances for the Tangerines.

Last months there were reports that Blackpool wanted to make the loan deal permanent at the start of the new year and even Rangers were more than happy to cash in on Jak Alnwick.

Now though it seems like the deal will not go through since the keeper has injured his arm and will be out of action for around three months.

The 26-year-old has undergone an operation, Blackpool have confirmed, meaning he will only be able to join them permanently at the end of the current season.

“We’ll continue to assess him throughout his period on the sidelines,” boss Simon Grayson said.

“Mark Howard has come in over the past two matches and we have Jack Sims and Chris Mafoumbi available too, should we need them.”

This will surely be a big blow for Rangers since Jak Alnwick will be out of contract at the end of the 2019-20 season meaning Blackpool can sign him for free during the summer.

As per reports, the Gers were willing to accept around £100,000 for the sale of the keeper but now it seems like the player will head out on a free transfer.
