Chelsea news Willian
Willian playing for Chelsea

Willian is set to be a free agent in the summer and he could very well join Arsenal thanks to his former mate, David Luiz – as per the latest reports.

Willian might be 31 years old but he has no shortage of takers in the market with clubs like Spurs, Corinthians and even Liverpool keeping tabs on him.

The winger has hinted he wishes to remain in the Premier League next season and since Chelsea are not likely to offer him a new contract, the Brazilian will most certainly be playing for a new side.

This season, Willian has put in a decent shift for the Stamford Bridge outfit, scoring five and assisting five goals in 28 Premier League games and given the pace and agility he has, the 31-year-old can still be an asset for any club he joins during the summer.

Can David Luiz help Arsenal sign Willian?

Some reports have suggested Liverpool are keen to make a move for Willian as they are about to lose out on Xherdan Shaqiri and Jurgen Klopp wants the Brazilian as a backup to Mo Salah next campaign.

Yes, playing for Liverpool is really tempting and not many players will be able to reject this offer but there’s a big chance the winger might end up at the Emirates.

Firstly, Willian’s hinted that he wishes to stay in London since he’s been in the city for seven years now. So clearly, Arsenal and Spurs are the two best options he has right now.

Also, his former teammate David Luiz could play a massive part in convincing the player to commit his future to the North London club.

The Gunners have Nicolas Pepe as their primary right-winger but the former Ligue 1 man has done really poorly this season so Willian could get considerable game time if he chooses to join Arteta’s side in the summer.

We still do not know if David Luiz has had a chat with his former buddy but one thing’s for sure, Arteta will surely ask his central defender to have a chat with Willian in order to try and lure him in.
