Rangers FC forward Alfredo Morelos has been tipped to move out of Scotland in the summer and it looks like Leicester City could be his next possible destination – as per reports.
Morelos joined the Gers in 2017 from Helsinki and over the past three seasons, the player has been one of the best goal-getters in the Scottish Premiership.
During the ongoing season, the Colombian international has netted 12 goals in just 26 Premiership games for Rangers and right now Leicester City are looking to sign him during the upcoming transfer window.
But this will by no means be an easy bit of business for the Foxes since rumours claim, West Ham United too are interested in making a move for the 23-year-old as David Moyes looks for a new centre-forward.
Can Leicester City outfox West Ham United?
Both of these are two stalwarts of the English Premier League meaning they will fight tooth and nail in order to acquire the services of Morelos for the upcoming season.
But as things stand, it’s Leicester City who have an advantage in signing the Rangers man due to a number of reasons.
The first and most obvious reason is that Leicester look all set to play in the Champions League next season while West Ham United will not even make it into Europe. So clearly the Colombian will look to play for a club who’s currently third on the league table as opposed to the Hammers who are out of the relegation zone-based only on goal difference.
The other reason is that Leicester City are currently managed by Brendan Rodgers who has seen Alfredo Morelos from really close quarters while he was managing Celtic. So the Gers man knows fully well that he is wanted by a team whose manager rates him very highly.
The third and final reason why the Foxes might have an advantage in this transfer race is that Rangers currently want around £25 million in exchange of their most prized possession and this fee could be a bit of a setback for the Hammers since they spent £45 million on Sebastian Haller not so long ago.
Leicester City or West Ham United, no matter where Morelos lands up at, one thing’s for certain. It’s Rangers FC will benefit from all of this since Gerrard can now jack up the asking price for his centre-forward.
