Livingston forward Lyndon Dykes is reportedly wanted by Championship side Cardiff City FC which is a massive blow for Old Firm sides Celtic and Rangers FC.

Lyndon Dykes joined Livingston from Queen of the South FC in January of 2019 and during the 2019-20 season, the 24-year-old has been scored nine and assisting eight goals in 25 Premiership matches.

Both the Glasgow sides have been heavily linked with a move for the forward in recent times but now the entry of Cardiff City could mean that the centre-forward could look to head south of the border during the summer.

The report claims: “Livingston striker Lyndon Dykes has been linked with a move to Cardiff City.

“Rangers are among the clubs who are reportedly interested in the Australian, but MailSport report today that there has been no contact between Steven Gerrard’s side and Livingston.

“Cardiff are believed to have had the 24-year-old watched several times before the shutdown, and are considered the most interested club.”

Cardiff City aren’t the only club interested in signing Dykes this summer with sides like Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers also being linked with the Australian.

Some pundits think the player will remain in Scotland since Cardiff City will be playing in the Championship next season as well but we have a feeling that plying his trade in England might be too big an opportunity to miss out on for the 24-year-old.

Lyndon Dykes is currently valued at around £2m which is a price that Cardiff City can very well afford but what remains to be seen is if the Championship side are solely targeting the Livingston man or do they have alternatives in mind.

The forward had recently admitted that he wishes to play for an elite club meaning if a big enough English club comes calling then he could be on his way out of Scotland.

He said, as per Record Sport: “I’m really enjoying my time at Livi. But I’m also confident I can push on and reach an even higher level at a bigger club.

“There’s been a bit of talk and a few clubs interested but I’ve not heard anything concrete. It’s good to be talked about, but I don’t read too much into it.

“I’m backing myself internationally as well and I think I can keep learning and improving. I want to look back when I retire and know that I’ve pushed as hard as I can in my career.

“It’s crazy when you look back. They are a lot of players out there who’ve been at academies and big clubs when they were younger, playing football for so many years.

“But I’m new to the pro scene and have come from nowhere really. I just kinda played Saturday league and mucked around, and now I’m here via Queen of the South. Once I got that sniff of it, I knew this was what I wanted to do.”
