Right now the SPFL is suspended due to the lockdown in Scotland and it looks like Celtic FC who have benefitted most during this period.

Recently the SPFL passed a resolution – after some controversy, to end the 2019-20 season immediately meaning the Bhoys are about to be declared the champions once again.

This decision though finalised at the domestic level will still require permission from UEFA which some people think should not be a problem.

But this isn’t the only thing Celtic FC have achieved during this lockdown period with the club announcing that they will start their pitch upgrade next week in order to take advantage of the suspension of the league.

A statement released by the club said: “An immaculate Celtic Park surface will be ready to go when football resumes following annual light renovation pitch works which will begin on Monday.

“Celtic will be using this period of enforced shutdown to complete these works so that Paradise will be at its best after receiving this special treatment over the next few weeks.

“A huge credit goes to the Club’s ground staff, Celtic’s state-of-the-art hybrid surface has served the Club brilliantly again this season and has won praise from all visiting European clubs.

“As we have always said, we hope it will be possible to complete games in the current season, but regardless of when football re-opens, the Celtic Park surface will be available from the end of May or first week in June and will be at its very best, as our players, supporters and visiting clubs have come to expect.”

The Bhoys though aren’t the first club who are doing repair work in this period since Rangers have already started work on their pitch last week and they intend to wrap up the whole thing within four weeks.

An Ibrox spokesman confirmed to Record Sport“Rangers are carrying out essential works which will be completed within four weeks.

“There is no reasonable expectation that we will be playing football at Ibrox in the next four weeks. Clubs in England have been carrying out similar work in recent weeks.”
