Celtic FC have reportedly joined clubs like Rangers FC and AFC Bournemouth in the race to sign 30-year-old forward Lyle Taylor in the summer – as per talkSPORT’s Jim White.

Taylor is set to be a free agent at Charlton Athletic this summer and he is currently in the eye of the storm since he’s refused to play the remainder of the season after the restart due to fears of getting injured.

And while this decision has given him some seriously bad press coverage in the past few days but his potential suitors seem to be growing at a really rapid rate.

Lyle Taylor joined Charlton in 2018 from Wimbledon and this season, he has managed to score 11 goals in 22 Championship matches for the club. And as per Jim White, the Bhoys might try and sign him, possibly as a replacement to Odsonne Edouard.

Do Rangers & Celtic FC have a chance of signing Lyle Taylor?

Taylor will be a wonderful addition to either of the two Premiership sides but we are pretty sure the player will want to join a club which can offer him more money. And this theory has also been backed by Charlton boss Lee Bowyer.

Bowyer told Sky Sports: “There are so many different hurdles. It’s hard, and not just for us but other clubs. We’ve got Lyle Taylor and his contract finishes on June 30.

“He’ll probably go somewhere else and will earn more money than he’s got in his career. It could make him for the rest of his life. Is he going to put that in jeopardy with the injury risk before a dream move? I don’t think so.

“He’s our main striker and his goals win us games. As a free agent, he’ll be getting good offers, and whatever he gets he deserves. He’s done really well for us but that’s the reality of the situation,”

Taylor is already 30 years old and we can’t really blame him for running after a substantial salary package especially when he has played at the lower division sides for most of his career.

Right now, it looks like AFC Bournemouth are the frontrunners in signing him not only for the money but also because he will get a chance to display his talent at the highest level.

But if he was to choose to join a club like Celtic FC or Rangers, the forward will be guaranteed trophies, something that might also be equally tempting for some players.
