Chelsea have reportedly agreed on a deal to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and now they are planning to shift their focus to Ben Chilwell, as per Goal.com.

Goal claims: “After February’s £37m (€40m/$46m) deal for Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech, the Blues’ spending is now up to a combined £91m ($114m) but Goal has learned that Chilwell is being pursued with the same energy as their latest two signings.

“Unlike the deals for Werner and Ziyech, Chilwell’s deal is complicated due to the absence of a release clause. Therefore, the club need to negotiate a fee with Leicester in order to bring him to Stamford Bridge next season.”

The Blues have performed a coup and have managed to snatch Timo Werner from right under Liverpool’s noses but this marquee signing could very well force Lampard to pull out of the deal to sign Ben Chilwell.

Will Chelsea pull the plug in the Ben Chilwell deal?

With Emerson likely to leave for Juventus in the summer, Chelsea have been eyeing a move for the Leicester left-back for quite some time now. But as per talkSPORT, the London club will have to splash out a substantial amount if they wish to get their hands on the England international.

The report states: “Chelsea will have to pay at least £60million to land Leicester star Ben Chilwell, talkSPORT understands.

“The Blues, who will shell out £53m on RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, have been long-term admirers of the England left-back. Chilwell is thought to be open to the idea of moving to Stamford Bridge this summer.

“Chilwell, whose Leicester contract runs until 2024, could be the next big-money player to leave the King Power Stadium.”

£60 million is a rather steep price to pay especially when Lampard has already spent lavishly on players like Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. But if the manager can sell off Emerson for the right price then making a move for Ben Chilwell should not be a predicament.

Leicester City are one of the hardest negotiators in the European market so there’s no way they will be ready to let their full-back leave for cheap, especially when he still has four years left on his deal.

And maybe this is why some rumours claim Chelsea could be looking to bring in Alex Sandro in a straight swap fro Emerson, just to avoid spending so much money on Ben Chilwell.
