Celtic FC have so far had a quite summer transfer window but manager Brendan Rodgers has made sure that he brings in players for the areas which needed work.

And with just days left in the transfer window, reports have it that the Hoops are planning to make one more signing.

According to the latest reports, Celtic are looking to bring Manchester City midfielder Douglas Luiz on a season-long loan deal.

Douglas Luiz joined Manchester City in the summer of 201 on a five-year contract but was immediately loaned out to La Liga side Girona during the 2017-18 season. And now that Pep Guardiola has recalled the central midfielder back to the club, he has failed to get a work permit.

Without a work permit, Douglas Luiz will not be able to play in the Premier League as a result of which Manchester City are planning to send him out on yet another loan spell.

Celtic are said to be the frontrunners in the deal but clubs like Benfica and Porto are also said to be in the hunt for the 20-year-old.

While it is still unclear if the Hoops will make any serious attempt during the remaining few days of the transfer window but if they do then getting Douglas Luiz should not be a major issue – since the relaxed work permit regulations in Scotland as well as the good relationship between Celtic and Man City.

Update: It is being claimed that Fenerbache have an agreement in principle with Man City over the loan move for Douglas Luiz which could seriously dent the hopes of Celtic.
