Southampton FC goalkeeper Fraser Forster spent the 2019-20 season out on loan to Scottish side Celtic FC and Neil Lennon is eager to hold onto the 32-year-old beyond the summer as well.

As per rumours, the Bhoys want to sign Forster on a permanent deal but this might turn out to be a tough feat to achieve since an EPL club is now keen to bring the shot-stopper on board during the summer.

The report in Daily Record states: “Celtic face a fight with a top English Premier League club to land Fraser Forster this summer.

“Cash-strapped Southampton are keen to sell the keeper as they bid to slash their wage bill and Neil Lennon is desperate to make his loan deal permanent.

“And now Lennon will have to convince the 32-year-old his future remains in Glasgow after a top-four Premier League side placed Forster on a shortlist of four keepers they are looking to sign.

“Southampton are waiting to see what offers they receive when the transfer window re-opens.”

Will Fraser Forster head back to the Premier League?

If this bit of news if true then it’s really bad news for the Bhoys since Lennon is desperate to hold onto Fraser Forster for the 2020-21 season.

But if a Premier League side is interested in the 32-year-old then Southampton FC will obviously want the keeper to remain in England as they are in need of urgent funds.

According to some reports, the Saints want around £10 million for Forster which is clearly out of the reach of Celtic at this point in time.

But if the interested EPL side can agree to this fee then there’s no way Neil Lennon will be getting his hands on the Hexham-born shot-stopper.

Thankfully, Fraser Forster isn’t the only keeper who’s on Celtic’s radar as the Glasgow side are also keeping tabs on other English top-flight keepers like Ben Foster, Claudio Bravo and Joe Hart.
