Scottish Premiership side Celtic FC have been linked with a move for Wolfsberger AC’s 24-year-old forward Shon Weissman.

The forward joined the Austrian side on a free transfer last summer and this season, he has been top form, scoring 26 goals in just 28 league matches. And recently, his manager had confirmed the interest of British clubs in signing him.

He told the Daily Record: “He is still under contract. But I don’t expect him to stay. In fact, I would be extremely surprised if he did.

“What makes him special is that he has scored all these goals for Wolfsberger. It’s far more difficult to score the number of goals he has than if he played for Salzburg. It’s more difficult.

“He will score goals anywhere. I would have no concerns for him no matter which country he ends up going to.

“There have already been plenty of interest from British clubs and we have to be realistic, although obviously, I would be delighted as a manager if he is still here next season.”

And former Liverpool striker Ronny Rosenthal has admitted that Shon Weissman will be a fine addition to Neil Lennon’s squad next season.

Rosenthal told Inside Futbol: “Shon Weissman obviously is having a great season.

“I think he has surprised himself and of course many other people as he, immediately after moving to Austria, scored so many goals and became a very important player for his club, having an unbelievable impact.

“I think moving to Celtic could be a great move for him because the Scottish league is not so strong and it is important for him to play regularly and be important for the club he is going to.

“I believe if he moves to a higher level he could find himself in competition with other players, and not playing regularly after scoring more than 30 goals in his first season would obviously be disappointing.

“I think Celtic could be interesting for him”

Shon Weissman has been a sensation in the Austrian top division and there’s no doubt he will be the perfect replacement for someone like Odsonne Edouard.

The Frenchman is being eyed by Premier League side Arsenal and if the former PSG man leaves then there’s every chance Celtic FC could try and make a move for the Israeli striker.
