Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final this weekend and with that Jurgen Klopp’s men finally put to bed the horrors of last year’s final.

The Reds got a penalty just after the start of the match when the ball hit Sissoko’s arm inside the penalty box following which Mo Salah scored from the spot to give Liverpool the edge in the Champions League final.

From then onwards, Jurgen Klopp’s men went into a shell as Spurs had the lion’s share of the possession for most of the game. Thankfully though, Harry Kane and company were really poor in the final third.

Then just as Pochettino was ready to throw the kitchen sink at Liverpool, Divock Origi scored a wonderful goal to seal the Champions League final for the Anfield outfit.

And while every Liverpool fan will surely be over the moon with the win but every neutral was saying the same thing.

What a boring Champions League final!

And speaking after the match, former Man United manager Jose Mourinho uttered almost the exact same words.

The Portuguese went on to say that had this been a domestic game it would outrightly have been classified as a boring encounter.

“I think the three midfield Liverpool players if we are going to see the wave of their positioning, they played on a straight line in front of a back four,” Mourinho said(as reported by Sky Sports).

“You don’t remember Henderson, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Milner being close to the three attacking players, to have one arrive in the box, nothing. They stayed in a block of seven, they were very pragmatic, very solid defensively.

“I think also that if this match is not the Champions League final if it is a Premier League match or the final of the League Cup, we would all say the game was not good.

“Because it is a Champions League final, it has this emotional side of it, but I think the quality of the game was not good, and Tottenham have to be frustrated because they lost and they feel that they are better than this.

“These big moments are when you have to be at your best level.”
