Almost every football expert believes that Barcelona should comfortably beat Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

And to be honest there is no real reason to doubts all these predictions.

Barcelona are easily the more superior team amongst the two and despite United’s heroics in the Round of 16 vs PSG no one really expects them to qualify for the semis of the Champions League.

But former Premier League football Danny Murphy seems to have a different view.

Murphy has come out to claim that Man United might very well cause a major upset during the two-legged tie.

Murphy said: “Manchester United fans are realistic enough to know they were going to have the odd blip after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s perfect start to life at Old Trafford.

“This quarter-final against Barcelona is a free hit.

“I don’t think United will be passive and the fans will forgive defeat as long as they make it close and competitive.”

While we understand why Murphy has made such a statement and if this match was played a couple of weeks ago, we would surely have seconded his opinion.

But a lot has changed since then.

Man United have been knocked out of the FA Cup and they have also suffered some pretty embarrassing results particularly against Wolves in the Premier League last week.

Solskjaer’s main aim is to keep the Champions League status for the 2019-20 season and this might be a bit of an uphill task given Man United are currently sixth on the Premier League table.

So naturally, this quarter-final vs Barcelona automatically becomes important for the Red Devils and even if Solskjaer does not admit to it but the pressure will certainly be on his team.
