Chelsea and Arsenal have both shown interest in signing Bayern Munich defender Chris Richards during the summer – as per reports.

Chris Richards joined Bayern’s academy from American side FC Dallas in January of 2019 but he is yet to make a senior appearance for the Bundesliga side.

And with his contract expiring in just two years, there have been rumours that the youngster wants to head out of Germany in the summer with the Premier League being his next possible destination.

Both Chelsea and Arsenal have been keeping tabs on the central defender and if things turn out in their favour over the next couple of weeks, they will not shy away from making a bid for Chris Richards.

Primarily a centre-back, Chris Richards can also double up as a right-back which means he can be a real asset in the squad but as per the reports, he wants to move out of Bayern Munich in order to get more game time and start playing regular football.

And we don’t think, he will get this luxury in either of the two London based clubs.

Yes, both Chelsea and Arsenal are in search of new defenders in the summer but their managers will surely be looking at some experienced players instead of youngsters.

Players like Samuel Umtiti have been linked with a move to the Premier League meaning Chris Richards will have to warm the benches in case he wants to join the Premier League at the end of the season.

The 20-year-old wants guaranteed playing-time at his new club but unfortunately, both Arsenal, as well as Chelsea, cannot offer him that – not at least during the upcoming season.

And since he still has two years left on his current deal, the American could decide to remain back at Bayern Munich for one more season and try out his luck.
