Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas will be leaving the club during the January transfer window – according to reports.

The Spaniard has informed the club about his desire to leave and he wants his contract terminated as he is in the process of finding a new club.

But it seems that Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri does not wish to part ways with the former Barcelona man.

“In this position, we have only two players, Jorginho and Fabregas, so for me, it would be really a problem without Cesc,” said Sarri.

“I want him to stay, I don’t know the final decision of Cesc and the club of course.

“But for me, it’s very important and if Cesc will go I think that we need to buy another player, and it’s not easy because, technically, Cesc is a very important player.

“And I think that in the market it’s very difficult to find a player with his characteristics.”

Maurizio Sarri also had a thing or two to say about Chelsea’s policy of handling players who are over 30.

“Oh, it depends. It depends on the single situation I think. It’s a rule and so we have to respect that, I think,” the Chelsea boss added.

“As you know very well the big problem is the duration of the new contracts. Because, as you know, over 30 years the club offers only one year to renew

“And for a player of 31, it’s a big problem to sign a new contract for only one year. So the problem is only this, I think.”

A couple of weeks ago, the Chelsea manager had claimed that he wanted Cesc Fabregas and David Luiz to stay at the club.

And while the midfielder does want to stay but so far he has made only five appearances in the Premier League this season playing only 153 minutes of football.

So if Sarri does want Cesc Fabregas to stay back at Chelsea then he will have to guarantee him more playing time.
