Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is eager to add one more striker to his squad before the transfer window comes to a close. And if the news from England is anything to go by then the Italian has a few names at the top of his head.
According to the latest reports, Chelsea are planning to make a sensational move for Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy. This news comes after the meeting that was held between Conte and the Chelsea director where the board made a decision to sign either younger players or older players rather than spend bag loads of money for footballers who are in their prime. And English International Jamie Vardy fits that brief perfectly.
Vardy is currently 30 years old and hence can easily be categorized in the bracket of older players. Add to that the fact that he is a top goal scorer and he becomes a perfect cheap option for the Blues.
Chelsea have also shown interest in Vardy’s teammate Danny Drinkwater and want to bring both the players to Stamford Bridge in a double raid.
The London outfit have also shown interest in Borussia Dortmund hitman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the Gabon International told a radio station that he wants to grow as a footballer and in order to do that he has to move out of Dortmund.
Aubameyang said, “This club and these fans are incredible, but if I want to grow, I feel I need to leave.
“This is the question I keep on asking myself — and I don’t have an answer. I need time to think about it. If I want to grow, I surely need to leave this summer.”
This statement has clearly sent shock waves across the whole of Europe and apart from Chelsea, many top clubs are surely going to show interest in him.
Antonio Conte very well understands the fact that Alvaro Morata will need a heavyweight partner by his side if Chelsea are to defend their title. And current striker Michy Batsuyahi is clearly not the right man for the job.
