Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has been the undisputed No 1 at the Emirates for a couple of seasons now. But with the Gunners signing Bern Leno this summer some feel that Petr Cech’s time at the club is drawing to a close.

Cech joined Arsenal from Chelsea in 2015 and since then the Czech Republic international has played 117 games for the Gunners. But now it seems that the new manager Unai Emery is looking to add fresh blood to his time and in doing so might just offload the 36-year-old.

This news comes at a time when Chelsea themselves are struggling to keep Thibaut Courtois amidst some strong interest from Real Madrid and multiple sources claim that the Belgium No 1’s move Madrid is just a matter of time.

And in between all this, some reports claimed that Petr Cech was poised to head back to his old club as a replacement to the man who knocked him out of work at Stamford Bridge.

Now the 36-year-old has responded to all the rumours claiming that he is fully focused on his career at Arsenal and the addition of competition is something that he is not afraid to face.

Talking to the press during the pre-season tour, Petr Cech said(as reported by the ESPN):

“I have a contract with Arsenal. I am concentrating on this season, on the competition between the goalkeepers because we have plenty of options,

“Hopefully, [the number one] is not going to be only on this training shirt. The whole team has the same message. Everyone works as hard as he can and then the boss makes the choice when the pre-season is over,

“I’m doing my best to show to the manager that I can be in the starting lineup when the season starts. That’s my aim and as for the speculation, I don’t really follow it.”

“It has happened many times in my career,” Cech said about getting added competition.

“As I said, the only thing you can do is work hard and force your way through to the starting lineup.

“In football, there is no sentiments about this. We have just got to do our job and see.”

Chelsea now are scheduled to sign Rob Green as a short-term back up in case Thibaut Courtois decides to leave Stamford Bridge so we feel that the Blues will drop their interest in Petr Cech – if there was any in the first place.

Petr Cech though will surely have to fight for his place in the Arsenal squad especially with Bern Leno arriving at the club. But if recent pictures are anything to go by then the 36-year-old is more than ready for the challenge.
