Chelsea are set to offer Thibaut Courtois a new and improved deal which is he chooses to accept will make him the highest paid keeper in the world – as per reports.

Earlier reports suggested that the Belgian shot-stopper was wanted to wait until the end of the season to sign a new contract and this was mainly because of the interest from Real Madrid. But now it seems that the Los Blancos have shifted their focus to Athletic Bilbao keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and Chelsea feel that this is the perfect time to bind their No 1 in a new deal.

David De Gea of Manchester United £200,000-a-week but if Courtois agrees to Chelsea’s new deal then he can earn even more than the Spanish keeper – including bonuses. This means that if Courtois puts pen to paper then he will become the highest paid keeper in the world.

The 25-year-old was delaying the contract talks with the Blues mainly because of Real Madrid’s interest in him. But now with Zinedine Zidane looking elsewhere the Chelsea No 10 might put sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge in January itself.
