Chelsea travel to Amsterdam this week to take on Ajax in the Champions League and Frank Lampard would be hoping to pick up his second European win as the Blues boss.

So far Chelsea have played two group games in the Champions League but have managed to pick up only a single win as a result of which they are currently sitting in the third spot on the league table.

Ajax, on the other hand, have managed to win both their matches and are leading group H with six points.

So naturally, the Blues will be going into this match as slight underdogs especially since Ajax are a formidable side when playing at home. But having said that, Lampard is hoping his youngsters can get one over the Dutch side this week.

Chelsea team news vs Ajax:

Lampard has a number of injury worries going into this match and most of his problems lie with the midfield region.

N’Golo Kante missed the Newcastle game with a groin injury but reports claim he should be fit enough to earn a place on the bench vs Ajax.

And with Ross Barkley also likely to miss the Ajax clash with an injury, Mateo Kovacic will start in central midfield alongside Jorginho and Mason Mount.

Kurt Zouma and Tomori played in central defence this past weekend and the pair should keep their place in the first XI this week.

Left-back Emerson is still out injured which means Marcos Alonso will start vs Ajax on Wednesday.

Hudson-Odoi and Willian started on the flanks vs the Magpies while Christian Pulisic came off the bench but some reports claim the American could be handed a start vs Ajax.

While this is a possibility, we don’t think Lampard will try and take such a big gamble against such a strong side and will rename Hudson-Odoi and Willian on Wednesday.

Tammy Abraham has been in fine form for the Blues so far and the youngster like the other two forwards should keep his place in the starting XI with Olivier Giroud being named on the bench.
