Chelsea take on Newcastle United at home this weekend and the Blues fans will be hoping for some authoritative performance from their players.

The Blues lost their EFL Cup game vs Spurs 1-0 despite being the better side during the game.

Chelsea team news vs Newcastle:

Chelsea played fine in defence and in midfielder but it was in attack where almost every move would break down thanks to the lack of an outright striker and the fact that Eden Hazard had to play down the middle.

While Sarri will be looking to solve this problem against the Magpies but with Alvaro Morata still out injured can the manager trust Olivier Giroud to deliver the goods.

Alvaro Morata is out with a hamstring injury and some reports claim the striker will not be able to recover in time.

In case the Spaniard is not available for selection, then Sarri would have two options.

Either play Olivier Giroud as the frontman or use Eden Hazard as the false nine.

And given how the Italian manager has lost faith in the Frenchman, Eden Hazard could once again be deployed down the middle.

This means that both William and Pedro have the chance to start or the boss can even give Callum Hudson-Odoi a chance.

With Hazard playing down the middle, Maurizio Sarri can get a lot more attackers on the field but this tactic down limit the Belgian’s capabilities.

But many fans have argued that they would rather see Hazard play as the false nine rather than watching a misfiring Alvaro Morata.

If Chelsea do not manage to win this game then Arsenal will have the opportunity to reach the same points tally as the Blues.

Chelsea though would still maintain the fourth spot thanks to a higher goal difference.
