Chelsea drew their Premier League game in midweek vs Southampton as the Blues failed to score once again.

The Blues currently have Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud as their two strikers but they way that both these players have been misfiring, Sarri is in desperate need of a third striker.

A number of top players have been linked with Chelsea during the past couple of weeks but now former Man City star Shaun Goater has suggested a rather odd player for the Blues.

As per Goater, the Stamford Bridge outfit should look to bring in AFC Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe.

Jermain Defoe has played just 21 minutes in the Premier League this season and the Cherries are willing to offload him – if the right offer comes by this month.

And Shaun Goater feels Chelsea should snatch up the man.

“He [Defoe] will be wanting to be playing games now,” Goater told Sky Sports News(as reported by Football London).

“At 36 what happens is if you’re not playing and then you do play, you can easily get yourself injured.

“You are not in that rhythm, so your form is not there because you are not playing consistently. He wants game time, he wants minutes.

“We were just speaking off air and we were just saying that Jermain Defoe, between now and the end of the season, and you look at Chelsea’s team, and you think, if you need somebody that can play a part from now until the end of the season, that can get you somewhere around eight or ten goals, I think Jermain Defoe is someone that do something like that.

“But he needs minutes, he has not been getting that at Bournemouth because obviously, they have Callum [Wilson] who is playing regularly and scoring.

“But Jermain Defoe, for a team like Chelsea, could be a wise move.”

Yes, Jermain Defoe has played for a number of top English clubs but right now the Englishman is 36-year-old.

At the twilight of his career, you would expect the striker to make a move for a club like Rangers(who are interested in signing him). But you certainly would not want Chelsea to sign Jermain Defoe.
