Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard is planning to bring in a new striker this month and as per reports could make a move for Jermain Defoe.

Defoe joined AFC Bournemouth in 2017 from Sunderland on a free transfer and last season the Englishman played 26 games in all competitions for the Cherries.

This season though the striker has fallen down the pecking order and so far Jermain Defoe has played in only four games of the Premier League cumulating a total of just 21 minutes.

The 36-year-old is of no use to the Cherries and Sky Sports are claiming that the player would be allowed to leave this month.

And keeping in line with this news, reports are suggesting that Steven Gerrard could try and bring his former international teammate to Ibrox.

Rangers had shown interest in Jermain Defoe during the summer as well but the move collapsed due to the striker’s heavy wage demands.

Many believe that these problems will arise once again this month but Steven Gerrard is not willing to give up without a fight.

Rangers though are not only monitoring Jermain Defoe as they are also keeping tabs on Liverpool outcast Dominic Solanke.

Solanke was slated to join Cyrstal Palace on loan until the end of the season but that move seems to have broken down which gives Gerrard one more opportunity to make a move for the ex-Chelsea man.

Dominic Solanke will undoubtedly be a more sensible move for Gerrard but the Liverpool man will surely come with an adequate game-time clause.

And with the kind of form Alfredo Morelos is in right now, it would be a real headache for the Gers manager to make Dominic Solanke his number one striker – if the Liverpool man joins Ibrox.
