Chelsea are currently sixth in the Premier League table and next up they welcome Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Blues picked up an assured 5-2 win over Wolves last weekend but that mood was dispirited a bit after they went down 1-0 to Valencia in their Champions League opener on Tuesday.

And this loss to the Spanish club will be even harder to digest since Chelsea should have actually come out with all three points from the match but they failed to capitalise on a number of chances – including a late penalty.

Despite their poor form, Chelsea have been playing some good football this season and it is almost a given that Lampard would be relying on his attackers to hand Liverpool their first league defeat of the new season.

Chelsea team news vs Liverpool:

The biggest cause of concern for the Chelsea boss is with the injury to Mason Mount which he picked up during their Champions League clash.

The youngster was on the receiving end of a nasty challenge from Francis Coquelin and initial reports are claiming the forward could be out for a number of weeks.

So with Mount out of the picture, Pulisic and Pedro should be more guaranteed starters during the Chelsea vs Liverpool clash on Sunday.

But Willian was in top form for the Blues on Tuesday vs Valencia and some rumours hint the manager will most likely name him in the first XI vs Liverpool.

If this happens then Pulisic will remain on the bench and will only come on in perhaps the last quarter of the game.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James have returned back to full training but the pair will not be fit for the Chelsea vs Liverpool clash.

N’Golo Kante has made a good recovery and the Frenchman might be fit enough to be named in the matchday squad on Sunday. But it remains to be seen if Kante starts the match.

If the World Cup winner is not named in the starting XI then it will be Kovacic and Ross Barkley who will play in central midfield alongside Jorginho.

Emerson and Antonio Rudiger are both ruled out of this game which means Zouma and Christensen will pair up in central defence while Marcos Alonso will be given the job to stop Mo Salah down the left flank.

Chelsea vs Liverpool: Blues’ predicted XI
