Chelsea have been linked with a potential January window move for Bayern Munich full-back David Alaba as per reports.

The Blues have been wanting to sign a new left-back and for some time it seemed like they would try and bring in Ben Chilwell from Leicester City.

Chelsea have been keeping tabs on Chilwell for the past couple of weeks and now with the transfer window reopening it looked like they will make a formal move.

Now though right out of the blue, there have been rumours that Frank Lampard might have shifted his focus and now wants to bring in David Alaba from Bayern Munich.

Alaba joined the Bavarians in 2011 and up until lately there have been no major indications that he might want to move out of the club anytime soon.

But since the left-back is 27 years old, some people feel that Bayern might want to get rid of their ageing full-back which is where Chelsea come in.

Multiple sources claim Chelsea are pretty serious at making a move for David Alaba this month but now the Bayern manager has made it clear that the left-back is not for sale.

“Alaba is not for sale in the winter,” said Flick speaking at a press conference via Goal.

“Alaba is doing very well at centre-back at the moment. He can lead a team, he showed that.

“This is the criteria the leader of the defence has to fulfil.”

So it looks like Chelsea have to shift their focus to Ben Chilwell.
