Chelsea signed Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window and the American is set to join with his new Chelsea teammates in the coming few weeks.

The Blues paid €64 million for the winger making him the most expensive American transfer and with Eden Hazard leaving the club, many people have claimed that the 20-year-old could fill that void at Stamford Bridge.

But Frank Lampard though recently claimed that instead of finding a like to like replacement for Hazard, he will try and groom the other talents at the club.

“I think Eden Hazard, from the outside, it seemed like something that was really important to Eden personally,” Lampard said(as reported by Football London).

“But now it is important about what we do and it is about how to take the club forward. You lose one great player, of course, but then how do you get around that?

“You work on the team and the squad we have is already a very strong squad. We have a lot of young players, who are at a really good age who have, not just potential as they have already shown it in the first team, but have the talent, not to fill Hazard’s boots as he is very unique, but we have players in their own way who can be huge players for this club.

“Some who already are huge players and some who can get even better. My job is to get that out of them and make them even better.”

Now though, USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter has claimed that Christian Pulisic has the potential to become the next face of Chelsea and replace Eden Hazard.

Here’s why:

“He [Pulisic] has the ability to influence the game from different positions and can unlock defences whether as a No 10 or going wide,” Berhalter said(as reported).

“With the coaching, he’ll get in England, he has an incredibly bright future.”

Christian Pulisic primarily plays down the right winger but right now Lampard already has an overload of right-wingers.

So during the pre-season games, the newly appointed Blues boss might try to use Christian Pulisic in different roles to see where the American international fits in best.

It is also being reported that the youngster will only take a few holidays holiday in order to join the Chelsea team early in their pre-season preparation so that he can get to understand life better with his new boss and teammates.
