Manchester United’s first signing of the summer came in the form of winger Daniel James from Swansea City.

The 21-year-old had a wonderful 2018-19 season with Swansea in the Championship where he played in 33 games making 9 assists and scoring 4 goals.

And Man United have reportedly paid around €17 million for the services of Daniel James and the coaching staff at Old Trafford have really high hopes from the youngster.

Early last month, the club released an official statement which read: “Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has agreed, in principle, terms with both Swansea City and Daniel James for his transfer to the club.”

“Daniel has successfully completed a medical at the Aon Training Complex.”

Currently Man United are down under for their pre-season schedule and reports are claiming that the youngster has pleased everyone with his skills and talent.

A source told The Sun: “The word from Carrington is very encouraging on young James.

“He is clearly ahead of the game. He has topped all the early fitness charts. Ole was impressed with seeing him doing his own work.

“He came out top in the sprints, even the short ones, by a good margin of five or so yards.

“He did one fifty metre sprint that left team-mates five metres behind him and also maxing out the bleep test.”

Daniel James is lighting quick and currently, not many defenders in the Premier League could match up to that pace.

But what will be interesting to see is whether Solskjaer trusts him and gives him a starting role from the very first weekend of the new Premier League season or will he slowly incorporated in the team as the campaign rolls along.
