Premier League Daniel Sturridge

Liverpool released Daniel Sturridge last month which means that the England international is now a free agent.

The forward fell down the pecking order at Anfield during the past couple of seasons and last season he only managed to make 18 Premier League appearances for the club.

And as soon as the 2018-19 season ended, Jurgen Klopp announced publicly that the club will not be providing a new deal to Daniel Sturridge.

While some reports have claimed that Daniel Sturridge would want to keep playing in the English Premier League but it looks like he could very well be on his way to Scotland.

As per the latest claims, Steven Gerrard is planning to bring his former Liverpool teammate onboard in case he loses Alfredo Morelos this summer.

Morelos has been the key goal-scorer for Rangers during the past two seasons but right now a number of clubs have shown interest in signing him.

The Sunday Post reported: “Rangers are searching for a striker as they ready themselves for receiving an offer for Alfredo Morelos they can’t refuse.

“It is understood that should an offer surpassing the £19.8-million Celtic got for Moussa Dembele from Lyon be received, Steven Gerrard would be prepared to cash in.

“The Rangers manager would then look to use a chunk of the fee to bring in a replacement, with Gerrard’s former Liverpool team-mate, Daniel Sturridge, one striker who has been consistently linked with a move to Ibrox.

“Though a free agent, he would nevertheless represent a significant investment due to his high wages.”

Newcastle United have also been linked with Daniel Sturridge last month but now Rafa Benitez has left the club, we do not feel Mike Ashley will make a move for the former Liverpool man.

Apart from the Magpies, there has been no real EPL interest for the forward which means he might have to head to Ibrox in order to stay in the limelight.

But if Daniel Sturridge does decide to join Steven Gerrard’s side this summer then he will have to take a massive pay-cut because there is no way that the Gers can afford to pay £120k per week(his last wage structure at Liverpool).

Having made all these assumptions though, this transfer will solely depend on the fact whether Alfredo Morelos chooses to leave Rangers FC this summer.
