Portugal rode on the back of a Cristiano Ronaldo hattrick to draw their first game of the group stage 3-3 against Spain.

Ronaldo scored the first goal of the game from the penalty spot pretty early on in the game and then his second goal was pretty much gifted to him due to a lapse of concentration from Spain No 1 David De Gea.

But his third goal which came during the 88th minute of the game was undoubtedly the crown jewel.

Cristiano Ronaldo won a free kick 25 yards away from goal and took it upon himself to rescue a point for his national side.

He then went onto pull out a beauty.

When Ronaldo was about to take the free-kick there were not many football fans who would have doubted the Portuguese’s ability to put the ball into the back of the net.

But if you are a certain Danny Murphy then things might have been a bit different.

The former English International was on commentating duties for the BBC just before Ronaldo was about to take the free-kick, Murphy uttered something that he might have to regret for quite some time now.

The former Liverpool and Spurs man clearly had his doubts about Ronaldo scoring from the set piece and uttered the words: “He can’t go over the wall.”

And what Cristiano Ronaldo did after that was seen by millions.

But fans immediately noticed Danny Murphy’s comments about Ronaldo and since then the 41-year-old has been hammered on social media.

Danny Murphy clearly had a bad day at the office when he questioned Cristiano Ronaldo’s abilities but the fans are not taking anything into consideration.
