Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw by Bayern Munich at home in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16.

The Reds had the upper hand during most of the match but all that domination did not lead to a goal eventually.

While Bayern Munich did not get the away goal but Niko Kovac will be happy to take the tie to the second leg.

Niko Kovac set up an attacking lineup but the manager also had an eye on Liverpool’s attacking force which meant the Bayern players were a bit more cautious when going up in attack.

But when the match ended Jurgen Klopp and Niko Kovac were seen exchanging words on the touchline and some rumours suggested that the two managers were having a dispute of some kind.

And this dispute could have been due to the fact that Klopp was waiting to shake with his managerial counterpart while Niko Kovac was busy congratulating his own players.

When Niko Kovac was asked about the incident, here’s what the Bayern manager had to say.

“That was funny,” said Kovac.

“We were on English soil. In Germany it is normal when games end, you shake hands with your players first.

“In England, first the coaches shake hands so I did what I did in Germany. I said sorry and made up for it. In Germany, we will do it as we do it in Germany.”

Even Jurgen Klopp decided to play down the whole incident saying:

“Full-time? No, it’s not a problem,

“I wanted to shake Niko’s hand immediately and then he went into the crowd of players and then he came back and apologised, and I said it was no problem.”

Liverpool travel to Germany in three weeks time and while Niko Kovac will be hoping to pin down the Anfield outfit in his own backyard but Klopp will know pretty well that one away goal can change the whole complexion of the tie.
