Manchester City are the best team in England right now especially after their dominating season in the Premier League last campaign.
Liverpool are the only team that can come close to Pep Guardiola’s side but every major football pundit has backed the Citizens to defend their Premier League crown.
But Manchester City’s love affair with the Champions League has not gone down too well during the past couple of seasons.
The Blues half of Manchester have failed to make any sort of significant impact in the Champions League despite dominating the domestic circuit but Pep Guardiola hopes to change all that this year.
But it looks like the fans do not have too much faith on their team as a result of which more than 15000 fans chose to skip City’s first game of the Champions League against Lyon.
The Etihad has an official capacity of 55,000 but only 40,111 fans decided to show up for the midweek fixture as Guardiola’s men lost to Lyon in front of an empty stadium.
And the pictures of an empty Etihad stadium have gone viral on the internet and right now the best team in England is being made fun of – left right and centre.
Every opponent has taken out time to mock the Manchester City fans for an empty Etihad stadium and to be very honest the rows and rows of empty blue chairs did look very embarrassing.
Man City's fraught relationship with UEFA/Champions League continues Fans still booing the CL anthem at at the start of a new season.
Many empty seats across the Etihad Stadium – something just highlighted on 5Live too (Is it prices, limited interest, overload of football?)— Rob Harris (@RobHarris) September 19, 2018

All those empty seats at the Etihad. 👀 City can spend as much money as they like, they will never be a big club with brilliant fans like Liverpool. And that’s the real reason why they can’t stand us. #LFC #MCFC pic.twitter.com/7NhEeeBwl6
