Tottenham Hotspur Eric Dier was given the captain’s armband during the Three Lions’ 0-0 draw against Germany and one of the first things that he did was to praise Chelsea youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek for a stellar performance.

Loftus-Cheek, 21, made his debut for the English national team during the match against Germany and he was easily one of the best players on the pitch for Gareth Southgate’s side.

And Dier has showered praises on the youngster who is currently on loan to Crystal Palace.

Dier said, “Everyone has known of Ruben’s potential for a long time,

“I think it is great now that he is at Crystal Palace and playing week in and week out, that is only going to help his development.

“It is great that we are seeing the potential that everyone has been talking about and now it is up to him to keep pushing himself, keep working hard and looking to improve.”
