Chelsea have officially sacked manager Frank Lampard on Monday and just two days later they will have to take on Wolves in the EPL.

Lampard’s torrid time in the Premier League has finally come to an end but it’s still not clear(at the time of writing this) as to who will be in charge of the side when the Blues welcome Nuno Espirito Santo’s team in midweek.

Chelsea have won 6 of their last 7 home matches against Wolves in all competitions and Wolves are currently winless in their last six EPL matches. So, the momentum is clearly with the home side going into this game.

The choice of the starting XI will be interesting to see, especially if a new manager is named in this time since it will give us an indication as to which Chelsea player will remain and which one could leave in the summer.

EPL 20-21: Chelsea team news vs Wolves

Kepa started in goal vs Luton Town in Chelsea’s FA Cup win during the weekend but the Spaniard will move back to the bench, making way for Edouard Mendy.

Thiago Silva and Rudiger started in central defence vs Leicester City in the EPL last week and the pair are expected to reprise their role against Wolves as well.

Reece James will retain his place at right-back with Ben Chilwell replacing Emerson on the other side of defence.

Billy Gilmour put in a fine shift vs Luton Town on Sunday and the youngster could get another start since N’Golo Kante is not going to be fit in time for the EPL clash vs Wolves. But with a new manager coming in, Jorginho could also be recalled to the starting XI in midweek.

Kai Havertz has been really underwhelming so far this season but the German should get a new lease of life with the arrival of a new boss. He’s expected to be named in midfield alongside Mason Mount.

Hudson-Odoi has been a regular feature in the Chelsea first XI during their last few games and he too should feature vs Wolves – on the left flank. Hakim Ziyech started vs Luton Town on Sunday and he’s expected to keep his place in the EPL clash as well.

Timo Werner could finally get the chance to play up front after having to settle for a place down the wings so far this season.

It’s really tough to predict a starting since a new manager is about to take charge at Chelsea. The backline is not too flexible but when it comes to the attacking department, the Blues have several good players in their squad and each one of them is capable of changing the course of a match single-handedly.

Chelsea’s predicted XI vs Wolves:

Predicted Starting XI: Mendy; Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Rudiger, Reece James; Gilmour/Jorginho, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz; Hudson-Odoi, Werner, Ziyech/Pulisic.
