Liverpool are currently fourth on the EPL table but according to Gary Neville, they have a better chance of challenging for the title rather than Tottenham.

Spurs are sitting at the top of the table with six wins and two draws but the Sky Sports pundit has claimed that the Lilywhites won’t be able to keep up this pace and eventually, Liverpool have a better chance at challenging MCFC for the EPL title.

Neville said on his podcast(as quoted): “I think they[Liverpool] could, they are more likely to than Spurs. They played against a really good Brighton side, they’ve got an outstanding goalkeeper that I always think will keep them in a lot of football matches and they’ve got strikers who can score a lot of goals.

“The midfield is attacking, has it got the defensive stability of what we have seen here today [at Arsenal and Manchester City]?

“If you put Rodri or Declan Rice in Liverpool’s holding midfield possession. I’d be saying Liverpool would definitely be on for the title my question mark is whether they’ve got enough solidity in midfield or enough defensive strength and power. So I don’t think Liverpool are quite there, but they are in the race.”

Manchester City suffered their second defeat of the season this weekend and right now, they are third on the EPL table but it’s safe to say that the Cityzens are the prime contenders to become the champions come May. They pulled off an English treble last season and no one is writing them off in terms of achieving that feat once again.

Tottenham have made a fairytale start to their season under their new manager but they are bound to falter at some point in the second half of the season.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have lost one game but slowly and steadily, Jurgen Klopp is remodelling his side after bringing in some new signings in the summer. They are just three points off the top and if players like Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai get the hang of things, they will definitely be the prime title contenders.

The summer arrivals will surely come good with time but the one problem they will have is that they are playing in the Europa League and Thursday night matches are always tricky. Squad management will play a big role in determining Liverpool’s EPL season but for that to happen, Klopp will need his players to be injury-free.

In conclusion, Liverpool definitely have what it takes to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title but there’s no way we can discredit Tottenham, especially after their blemish less start to the 23/24 season. Yes. they are going to slow down as the campaign progresses but if they can have a superb first half then they will be very much in contention.
