Erling Haaland has been on Real Madrid’s transfer radar ever since he joined Manchester City but now as per the latest reports, Madrid are no longer interested in him.

Benzema’s sudden exit has left a massive void in Madrid’s forward line and this season, Ancelotti has been forced to use a different formation in order to accommodate the absence of a world-class striker.

To fill this void Real Madrid are planning to go big during the next summer transfer window and everyone thought Erling Haaland was going to be their target number one. However, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is focusing on signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain instead of going after the MCFC hitman.

Madrid failed to get their hands on Mbappe last summer but they will go after him once again because Perez feels the Frenchman will be a better fit into his Los Blancos side.

Kylian Mbappe wasn’t allowed to leave PSG last year but his current deal with the club expires in 2024 which means he will be available as a free agent. The forward does have an option to extend this deal for one more year but if Madrid can convince him on an exit then Perez will be able to save a lot of money.

Erling Haaland is in no way a bad choice but he’s tied down with MCFC until 2027 so Real Madrid will have to pay a fortune if they wish to land the Norwegian. Also, while Mbappe has a strained relationship with PSG, Haaland seems perfectly happy at City so it will be doubly hard to convince him to join the Bernabeu outfit.

Haaland has scored 65 goals in just 69 games for Manchester City while Kylian Mbappe has scored 203 goals in 229 appearances. Mbappe might have scored these goals in the French Ligue 1 which is a relatively easier league than the EPL but the French international has netted so many goals despite playing in out on the left wing.

We think Florentine Perez has taken the right decision because Kylian Mbappe is still only 24 years old and if he can settle into the centre-forward’s role quickly then Madrid will have a striker for the next six to seven seasons.
