Erling Haaland was taken off at half-time during Manchester City’s 6-1 win over Bournemouth this weekend with a knock but thankfully, the Norwegian international is recovering very well.

He twisted his ankle during the match but after the game, Pep Guardiola revealed that the injury is not very serious and that Erling Haaland should be fit by the time Man City take on Chelsea next weekend.

Manchester City will face Young Boys in their midweek Champions League clash and speaking before this match, their manager has provided a positive update.

Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference: said: “We will train this afternoon so I don’t know. I spoke with the doctor and him. Yesterday he said he felt much better but I don’t know. Tomorrow I will listen to the doctor.

“If he says he doesn’t have pain, I will consider letting him play. There are lots of days to recover [before we play Chelsea on Sunday]. Right now, if Erling doesn’t play, Julian [Alvarez] is going to play there.”

Shortly after this, Erling Haaland was seen training with the rest of the MCFC squad which means he should be back in no time. The Young Boys match is not going to be an issue so Pep Guardiola is not going to risk him in midweek.

After their Champions League endeavour, Man City will take on Chelsea and Erling Haaland should be fit and available for selection for this trip to London.

Haaland has picked up from where they left last season scoring 11 league goals in the same number of matches and because he’s just escaped a major injury, the major will not want to rush him back.

Guardiola has Julian Alvarez in his squad and we think the Argentine international will be the one to lead the line vs Young Boys. This will allow someone like Bernardo Silva to play in the No 10 while Phil Foden operates out on the right wing.
