Man United have been trying to sign Erling Haaland from RB Salzburg for some time now and many reports claim that they have gotten very close.
Just a couple of days ago, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had hinted that his club are interested in signing the young striker and could make a move for him during the January transfer window.
‘He is a player I like,’ Solskjaer said via The Metro.
‘We are looking for good players all the time. Erling has had a good development, so he has to develop further wherever he decides.
‘I don’t need to talk so much about him, but we as a team always look for players who can complement the others we have, and then we see what we end up with.’
And on Friday morning, there were various reports claiming that Erling Haaland has boarded a plane from Norway and is on his way to Manchester in order to sign a contract with the Red Devils.
But when the Man United boss was asked this very same question, he tried to explain why Erling Haaland is not coming to the club anytime soon and also why he has boarded a plane.
“I don’t think he [Haaland] is en route here to be fair,” Ole said at his press conference, ahead of the game with Watford via the club’s official website.
“Not through me, anyway. Well, he’s not coming to Manchester… because, well… I know the boy and I know his friends. He’s on a Christmas holiday.
“You can’t fly anywhere from Stavanger, can you? So you need to go via [somewhere].
”You know I can’t comment on other teams’ players. I’ve said that many a time.
“That’s just one of those things in this job – you get so much speculation all the time.”
