West Ham United made a pretty pathetic start to the current season but after a series of good performances, many people believed that the Hammers might just be able to play in the Europa League next season.

But suddenly their performance graph has been going down and West Ham United have lost three out of their last five league games.

The latest defeat came at the hands of Everton this past weekend which have pushed the Hammers out of the top-ten once again.

The Hammers will need to finish as high as possible in order to play in the Europa League next season. But right now, that looks to be a far fetched dream.

Currently, Wolves occupy the seventh spot on the table with 44 points and while West Ham are just two points adrift them but the real problem is that as many as three clubs sit in-between them.

And speaking about their Europa League hopes, Pablo Zabaleta has claimed that they could miss out on Europe next season.

Here’s why:

“I am not happy at all because if you look at the season so far, we have not been consistent enough,” Zabaleta said.

“We have had three or four bad performances against teams around us.

“There are five teams looking for that seventh position and it is all about one or two points difference between them.

“We have lost so many opportunities to be in that seventh place and it shows the weak mentality that we have probably got and which we need to improve looking forward.”

Next up, West Ham United take on Chelsea in the Premier League immediately following which they will take on Man United – both of these games away from home for the Hammers.

And then, they also have a match vs Spurs towards the end of this month. So it fair to say that the Hammers fans should already start saying goodbye to dreams of playing in the Europa League next season.
