Manchester City beat Arsenal 3-0 in the Premier League on Sunday and it was the Kevin De Bruyne show.

The away side dismantled Arsenal with considerable ease and had the match wrapped up within the first 45 minutes itself and it was Kevin De Bruyne who was running the show for Pep Guardiola’s men.

The playmaker opened the scoring in the 2nd minute with a thumping strike and then went on to add the third goal of the game, five minutes before half-time.

And while everyone was busy trying to understand how the Gunners went down without a fight, it was actually Kevin De Bruyne who provided a perfect explanation as to how Man City had a merry at the Emirates.

The City man said via The Metro: ‘We saw upfront in the videos… the attackers they try to press up but when we pass their front four they really don’t help the Arsenal defence.

‘So they always stay with four upfront, except [Gabriel] Martinelli who comes [back] a little bit more.

‘So we always get spaces somewhere over the pitch. I think it’s really difficult for the six defenders to control that because obviously you can come from everywhere on the pitch.

‘I think they left some open spaces and we exploited them really well. Obviously, when you’re 3-0 up it makes the game a little bit easier for us.’

And this is one problem which has been going on at Arsenal ever since the 2019-20 season started.

When the Gunners go forward, they play a very attractive brand of football and have the capability of dismantling even the sturdiest of sides. But as soon as they lose possession and the opponents are running at them, the Arsenal players forget all sense of responsibility and start running around like headless chickens.
