Rangers FC have made a fantastic start to the new Scottish season under their new boss Steven Gerrard and this has attracted a lot of attention.

Gerrard has signed eleven new players during the summer transfer window and a number of pundits have given the Light Blues the green light to win the Premiership this campaign.

This fine performance has also caught the eye of a number of players who had previously left the club for greener pastures.

And one such player is current Brentford midfielder, Lewis Macleod.

Macleod left for Championship side Brentford at the start of 2015 for a reported fee of £850,000.

But now Lewis Macleod has gone on to claim that he wishes to return back to this boyhood club and play under Steven Gerrard.

“I’d always say I’d like to go back to Rangers,” said Macleod.

“Anyone that supports the club would say that. And if you could play for the club now that it’s in good health, that would be brilliant. But right now I feel I’ve got a lot to prove down here so I’m fully focused on that.”

“When I was at Ibrox, I was full of confidence. That’s just the feeling I want to get to here. It’s not so much learning how to play again.

“It’s getting used to certain situations in a game that were second nature. I’m only just getting used to that again,”

Lewis Macleod played 74 games for Rangers during his time at Ibrox but since then his importance has deteriorated at Brentford and last season he only managed to play 10 games in the Championship.
