Brendan Rodgers Leicester City vs Man United

Rangers FC take on Celtic in the season’s first Old Firm Derby on Sunday and before the match many believe that the Light Blues have a slight advantage over their Glasgow rivals going into the match.

Rangers have had a superb transfer window under their new manager Steven Gerrard while the Hoops have struggled to bring in new signings during the summer.

And now according to Rangers great and current Kilmarnock striker Kris Boyd, the Old Firm Derby will be the litmus test for Brendan Rodgers.

As per Boyd, if the Hoops fail to win the season’s first derby then there’s every possibility that Rodgers might walk out of the club.

Kris Boyd wrote on the Scottish Sun: “For Steven Gerrard, it’s his first Old Firm game,

“If he wins it I can’t help think it might just be Brendan Rodgers’ last.

“There are clearly big problems behind the scenes at Parkhead. Rodgers can try and paper over the cracks by saying all the right things, but it’s too late for that.

“Rodgers walks on water as far as the fans are concerned. I just wonder if he might start thinking about walking out the door if Rangers win. But it’s a big if.”

Brendan Rodgers will be under enormous pressure, yes but Kris Boyd is surely jumping the gun. We don’t think that Rodgers will be looking to move out of Celtic Park if his team fail to beat Rangers on Sunday.

Gerrard, on the other hand, will be the more relaxed manager before the game given that this is his first Old Firm Derby and even if his team fail to pick up all three points, not many people will point fingers at him.
