Rangers FC are planning to bring in a few new players during the January transfer window and multiple reports are of the view that the manager is looking to bring in a new striker.

While the duo of Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty have worked well together but the constant suspensions that Morelos has picked up this season has really hampered Gerrard’s plans.

And rumours have it that the Gers are planning to make a move for Willem II forward Fran Sol.

Who is Fran Sol?

Fran Sol currently plays in the Eredivisie for Willem II and the 26-year-old is setting the league on fire.

Sol currently has 15 goals in just 18 games for the Dutch side and his red-hot form has gained a lot of attention from all across Europe.

Fran Sol started his career at Real Madrid but the player never managed to break into the first team setup. He played a couple of games for the B team ultimately moving to Villareal.

His luck with Villareal did not change either as he managed to play only two games for the club before moving to Willem II during the 2016-17 season.

How many clubs are interested in Fran Sol?

If reports are to be believed then close to a dozen European clubs are keeping tabs on the forward with the likes of Rangers and Celtic both interested in signing him.

Apart from the Premiership sides, English clubs like Burnley, Cardiff, Huddersfield, Leeds, Derby and Swansea are also planning to launch bids for Fran Sol.

TransferMarkt values Fran Sol at €4 million but with so many clubs interested in signing the prolific forward Willem II will surely bump up the price tag.

But one thing that will play in favour of clubs like Rangers and Celtic is the fact that Fran Sol is set to be a free agent next summer meaning if Willem II fail to find a buyer for him in January the club will have to let him leave for free at the end of the season.
