Rangers vs Leipzig

Joe Worrall had been rock solid in defence for Rangers during the whole 2018-19 campaign but with him leaving, there is some serious work to do for Steven Gerrard in the transfer market.

Joe Worrall arrived at the club on a season-long loan deal from Nottingham Forest and he ended up playing 32 games in all competitions for the Gers.

But now that the centre-back has gone back to his parent club, Gerrard is busy looking for a long-term replacement for him.

And recent reports had suggested that the Tedy Bears were interested in signing Oldham defender George Edmunson.

Now though, it looks like Rangers are on the verge of pulling out of the deal due to the high transfer price of the defender.

Rangers have already made an offer of £400,000 for the 21-year-old but it was quickly turned down by Oldham with reports claiming that the League Two side want somewhere around £1 million for the defender.

While Gerrard is interested in signing Edmundson as a replacement to Joe Worrall but there is no way that the Gers will be ready to pay such a huge amount for the defender.

Rumours have it that the club will make a final bid of £500,000 plus add-ons but if Oldham turns that down too then Rangers will pull out of the deal for good.

George Edmundson has been a key figure in defence for Oldham this season having played in 54 games for the League Two side this past season.

And many experts feel that Gerrard should go out and sign him even if the price tag is a bit high especially since Rangers director of football Mark Allen so desperately wants to bring him on board.

Many Rangers fans feel that it is high time that their club invests in players on a permanent basis instead of bringing them on loan and letting them leave after a year.
