NOT GOOD NEWS: Rangers boss Steven Gerrard names the price for which he will sell Alfredo Morelos

Rangers’ striker Alfredo Morelos has started the new Scottish season on a positive note despite receiving a red card in the first game of the season.

That red card though was quickly downgraded to a yellow and the 22-year-old was back in the first team line up the very next weekend.

But as things stand Morelos’ good start to the new season, clubbed with a fine performance in the previous one has been attracting a lot of attention.

Recent reports had suggested that French club Bordeaux had a £3.75 million bid rejected for Alfredo Morelos earlier this week.

After the news came into light, it was not very clear as to why the Light Blues had rejected the bid.

Was it because they did not wish to sell Alfredo Morelos or was it because the price was too low?

This question had been bothering the fans for some time now but the recent comments from Steven Gerrard has hinted at the possible reason for the rejection and what the club wishes to do with Alfredo Morelos.

Gerrard said: “If we sell a good player then we’ll have to go into the transfer market and pay more than these bids to replace him. So it doesn’t make sense to me to accept a bid at that level.

“To accept bit like that for Alfredo, I’m probably going to have to spend treble that amount for a replacement to score goals like him.”

From Gerrard statement on thing is pretty clear that the manager is not against the idea of selling Morelos during the summer. It’s just that he wants the right price.

So what exactly is the right price?

Gerrard has clearly stated that if he were to replace Alfredo Morelos right now they his club would have to spend atleast three times more than want they sell him for.

Which puts the Colombian’s price tag in the region of £12 million which is just about the amount(£11 million) that had been pitched to the Gers for the sale of Morelos this January.

But we don’t think that Bordeaux will be willing to jack up the price for Alfredo Morelos to such a degree which means that the striker stays at Ibrox – atleast for the time being.
