Gianluigi Donnarumma to Chelsea

Chelsea are eager to replace their current No 1 Kepa Arrizabalaga as soon as possible and it looks like AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma might be that man, according to Football Insider.

The report claims: “Chelsea have turned their attention to negotiating the signing of AC Milan sensation Gianluigi Donnarumma amid difficulties in prising Edouard Mendy from Rennes, Football Insider understands.

“The Premier League big spenders have made it a priority to recruit a new number one this summer and are exploring various options across Europe.

“The west Londoners are speaking to the seven-time Champions League winners about structuring a deal for the 21-year-old in various ways.

“The source explained that Chelsea recognise it is a long shot to sign Donnarumma, who is valued at nearly £50m by Milan.”

Can Gianluigi Donnarumma replace Kepa?

Gianluigi Donnarumma has come up through the ranks at Milan but the 21-year-old has just entered the final phase of his contract at the club.

It’s still unclear if the keeper wants to head out or not but if Chelsea are truly interested then there’s a big chance that Donnarumma could snub a new contract at the San Siro club in the coming months.

Kepa Arrizabalaga has been really underwhelming at Chelsea over the past two seasons and manager Frank Lampard is eager to bring in a replacement as soon as possible.

But having said this, we do not think Chelsea will be able to spend another £50 million on Gianluigi Donnarumma this ongoing transfer window after bringing in high-value players like Werner, Chilwell and Ziyech.
