Manchester United finally managed to bring in a new centre-back this season as they paid big bucks to secure the transfer of Harry Maguire.

United paid £80 million to Leicester City thereby making him the world’s most expensive defender crossing Virgil Van Dijk’s transfer to Liverpool last year.

And during the first four games of the new Premier League season, Man United have looked a more solid side with Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof playing in central defence.

But speaking about United’s world-record signing, Roy Keane has revealed some worrying issues regarding the England international.

“I think he’s done OK,” Keane told ITV(as quoted by MEN).

“We were talking about how good he is on the ball, but defensively I still think he’s… I still have one or two question marks over him.

“I always worry about his pace on the turn, I remember the first goal against Crystal Palace where he’s not doing the basics – covering round his other centre-half.

“Listen he’s 26 years of age now, you’re worried if you’re pointing these things out to him.”

VERDICT ON HARRY MAGUIRE:

When Man United paid so much money for the defender there were bound to be comparisons with Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk.

And going by these parallels, Harry Maguire might just be some yards behind of his Liverpool counterpart particularly in contributing to attacks.

But in all fairness, Solskjaer was badly in need of a new defender and they had to pay big sums of money in order to acquire his services.

Harry Maguire is in no ways a flawless defender, but we believe his performance will drastically improve once Man United’s midfielders and attackers start dominating games.
