Man United have so far played four games in the English Premier League but have managed to pick up only a single win. On the opening weekend, they thrashed Chelsea 4-0 at home but after that everything has gone downhill for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Man United have dropped points vs significantly weaker opponents like Crystal Palace and Southampton which has brought the doom and gloom back to Old Trafford.

But according to summer signing Harry Maguire, everything is not negative with the team, its just that only a few things need tweaking.

“We are playing attacking football but don’t get me wrong we can still improve a lot especially on the ball,” Maguire, said(as reported).

“We were giving it away sloppy, and we need to improve on that and show arrogance on the ball and be confident on the ball.

“We’re Man United and we want to control games. In the last 20 of the first and in the first 20 of the second we didn’t really control the game and we got punished for that.

“It was another game where we deserved to win created the majority of the chances and we’ve dropped two points,”

VERDICT:

Apart from Maguire, Solskjaer too has voiced similar concerns as he urged his players to be more clinical and ruthless when going forward.

“We’ve dominated the last three games and know we are on the right track, getting used to that way of playing,” Solskjaer said after Man United drew vs Southampton.

“In the last three games they haven’t given many points in return, but we’re getting better and better playing this way. It’s a young team that will get used to it.

“But today was a matter of we’ve just got the game where we wanted, we were winning 1-0, that’s when you can get that counter-attacking football, be more clinical, ruthless when we go forward.”

But we believe that the main problem lies with the attacking lineup.

The Man United manager has chosen to let Sanchez and Lukaku leave without bringing in any replacements and this could seriously hurt the team as the season rolls along.

The forwards which have moved out did not play particularly well last season but still, there were a force to reckon with and we are not so sure that the likes of Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial can have the same sort of impact.

Right now, Ole has three recognised goal-getters – Martial, Rashford and Greenwood and we believe this is a very thin department especially since Man United will be playing Thursday night football in the Europa League.
